The Vancouver Bruins got a marvelous performance from pitcher Pat Clay. The right-hander kept the Edmonton offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 5-1 Vancouver victory at Drillers Field. The last-place Bruins are now 27-45, the Drillers 32-40.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for David Williams? The Vancouver third baseman had a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Bruins on top, 3-1. For the game, Williams had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

Clay attributed the win to his team's "focus and intensity."
