|
In a low-scoring affair between the Southern California Empires and the Saskatoon Moose, pitcher Jimmy Gubbels was the difference between victory and defeat. The Southern California right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-2 Empires win. Luis Galdamez, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 5th save. The Southern California winning streak has reached 3 games.
Chris Mandernach, who finished 4th in the in stolen bases with 30 last year, had a direct impact on the outcome. Mandernach contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning to put Southern California up, 3-2.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Mandernach.
