Boston beat New York City on the strength of starting pitcher Chris Phillips's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 8-3. Boston has run its win streak to 6 consecutive.

Jose Gaytan had a big 3-run home run for the Shamrocks in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Boston trailing 3-2 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a fastball from Jim Johnson, who finished 3rd in the PBC in innings pitched with 157.1 in 2006, and punished it. The result was his 8th home run of the season, which put the Shamrocks on top, 5-3.

"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Gaytan. "You've got to get results."
