Allentown Wins, Grove has 3 hits

Due in large part to first baseman Wayne Grove, the Allentown Fleetwings sunk the Ottawa Capitals, 5-1. Grove went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Dustin Clark got credit for the win, improving to 7-5. He allowed 1 run on 10 hits in 8.2 innings. Allentown, at 28-31, holds down third place in the East Division.
The Fleetwings got a big at-bat from designated hitter Chris Tarter. For the game, Tarter was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 16th home run of the season gave Allentown a 2-1 lead.
Said losing manager Justin McKelvin: "It's very easy to sit in an ivory tower and critique the pitching, but the bottom line is we need to score runs."
