With 7-3 Win, Capitals Go to 31-21
|
Ottawa Capitals right-hander Mike Meloche pitched a good game against the Detroit Chargers at Chargers Field, leading his team to victory, 7-3. Meloche, who is tied for 9th in the with a 9.9 K/9 rate, went the distance for Ottawa. He gave up 3 runs on 8 hits. The first-place Capitals improved to 31-21.
Ottawa used the timely hitting of Ruben Anguiano to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Capitals on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It was our day today," Anguiano told the Ottawa Herald. "But we've got to keep our nose to the grindstone."
