Newark wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Miguel Moreno, falling to the Vancouver Bruins, 6-5. Moreno threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Brett Meade, credited with the win in relief, is now 1-1. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1 innings. The Bruins now have a record of 17-33.

The Bruins beat the Eagles in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Ryan Ream produced in the bottom of the eighth. Batting against Joe German, Ream gave his team the lead, 6-4, when he hit a 2-run single.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Newark manager Elijah Jackson. "But we decided not to take it."
