The Ottawa Capitals got a sterling performance from pitcher Mike Meloche, but the Newark Eagles still prevailed, 3-2. Meloche threw 7.0 innings of 1-hit ball. Joe German earned his 3rd save, after closing out the game. Today's win puts Newark at 17-31, while Ottawa falls to 28-20.

Jeremy Buck came through with a big-time hit for Newark. The third baseman smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"Tough loss," said Ottawa manager Justin McKelvin. "But we'll learn from it."
