Behind the hitting of Ruben Hernandez, the Vacaville Steelheads stopped the Southern California Empires, 4-2, in 14 innings. Hernandez went 2-4 with 2 home runs and 3 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Steelheads. The winner was Vacaville reliever Dal-soo Kim, now 1-0. The loser was Jacob Simpson.

John Shaffer came through with a big-time hit for Vacaville. The catcher smacked a solo home run in the top of the 14th inning to give his team the lead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
