Winnipeg Edges Vacaville, 6-5

The Winnipeg Buffaloes trumped the Vacaville Steelheads, 6-5, at Ballpark of Vacaville. Winnipeg first baseman Jack Coleman was terrific. He went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times. Dave Lewis was the winner. He's now 4-4. The loser was 35-year old left-handed pitcher Javier Aguilar. Steve Turnbull finished the game for Winnipeg and earned his 5th save.
Winnipeg used a well-timed hit by Kent Beaton to capture the win. The left fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Buffaloes ahead, 6-2. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.
"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," Beaton told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."
The Buffaloes, at 17-16, have now won 4 straight.
