Stevenson hits 2 home runs, Rollers Move to 19-8
|
The Las Vegas Rollers topped the Vancouver Bruins, 7-4, at Vegas Stadium. Las Vegas designated hitter Eddie Stevenson was a spark plug for the offense. He hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Ryan Lessley got the win, improving to 1-2. He pitched 7.2 innings, giving up 6 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 3 and walking 1. The losses continue to mount for Vancouver, which has now dropped 7 in a row.
Las Vegas shortstop Jimmy Rinehart contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two down, he hit a cutter to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 14th hit of the season and put the Rollers ahead, 3-0.
"I warned the team before the game," losing manager Amir Johnson told reporters, "that I'm wearing the same pair of undies until we win."
