Empires Get Past Las Vegas for 3-2 Win
|
The Las Vegas Rollers got a sterling performance from pitcher Sean Lee, but the Southern California Empires still prevailed, 3-2. Lee threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball. Justin Barbee got the win, improving to 1-0. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 7 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 2. Pete Block nailed down his 5th save.
Southern California used the hitting of Jorge Moreno to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Empires on top, 3-2. For the game, Moreno had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Moreno.
Las Vegas, with the loss, is still a stout 10-3.
