Fans of the Vacaville Steelheads who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a Vacaville win over the visiting Mexico City Aztecas, 2-1. Dave Murray started for the home team against Scott Lovely. Dave Murray earned accolades for his performance. Chandler Storey snagged the win in relief. He goes to 1-0 on the season. Scott Lovely suffered the loss.

Jonathan Lieberman went 2-4 with a double for Vacaville. The 33-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Scott Lovely. It was his 1st RBI of the season.

"Good teams find a way to win close games," Lieberman said.
