Aces Edge Thunder, 1-0
|
In a tight tilt between the Las Vegas Aces and the Tampa Bay Thunder, Tim Keller was the deciding factor. The Las Vegas right-hander spearheaded the 1-0 win. Keller, now 3-2, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 8, walking 1, and allowing no runs. Jared Booth sewed up the save, his 5th.
The Aces got a big at-bat from center fielder Alan Tompkins. For the game, Tompkins went 1 for 4 with a home run. In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 6th home run of the season gave Las Vegas a 1-0 lead.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Las Vegas manager Julian Riegel said.
Las Vegas's record now stands at 15-18, placing them last in the West Division.
