Houston and Boston duked it out and the Mavericks came out victorious.

The Houston Mavericks converted a terrific effort from starter Sam Conroy into a win over the Boston Shamrocks at Shamrock Grounds. The Mavericks won the game by a final score of 4-1. Conroy got the win, improving to 1-0. He gave up 6 hits and walked 2 over 8 innings. He allowed 1 run.

Houston took a 3-0 lead on Joe Higgins's 2nd double of the season. The bases-clearing double, which Higgins hit in the top of the seventh, left Boston pitcher Chris Phillips visibly frustrated.

"The effort we put into this one paid off," Conroy said.

The win puts Houston at 1-1.
