Season Over for Bill Bedwell in Toronto (R)
Wednesday, August 12th , 2009
Toronto (R) reliever Bill Bedwell could miss the remainder of the season because of a ruptured ulnar collateral ligament. He exited yesterday's Dallas (R) game after injuring himself while throwing a pitch. The original diagnosis said Bedwell would be out 10 months. Later on his doctors said he could be out even longer. "He's done," his manager commented at the BNN press conference. "It's a season-ending injury, but it could have been worse. It's not the worst-case scenario, so we're happy about that."
This season, Bedwell has chalked up no saves, notched a 1-5 record with a 6.13 ERA, allowed 49 hits in his 39.2 innings of work, struck out 52 and walked 31. Opponents are hitting .301 against the Toronto (R) hurler.
