Standout Season For York, Wins ABC Most Valuable Player Award Friday, October 24th , 2008 Boston's Kevin York put up some impressive numbers during the 2008 campaign to seal his bid for Most Valuable Player Award. The 24-year-old catcher hit Amateur Baseball Circuit pitchers with first class efficiency as he piled up a .337 batting average. He also included 109 hits, 35 doubles, 1 triple, 14 home runs and 42 RBIs to round out the year in fine style. He received 12 first place votes out of a possible 18. Sam Elliott of the St. Petersburg Pelicans finished second in voting with 6 first place votes, while Aaron Hernandez of the Oil City Oilers finished third.
