Vanden Burg Ups Hit Streak to 20 Consecutive Games Sunday, September 13th , 2009 The Providence Grays may have proven to be mere mortals as they lost, 6-2, to the Oil City Oilers, but Kyle Vanden Burg continued to hit like a god. The first baseman collected 1 hit in 4 at-bats in the loss and extended his hitting streak to 20 games. "Vanden Burg is playing great and is on fire right now," Grays manager Jon Ring said. "Hopefully his play can spark the rest of our team and help us pick up some wins." Vanden Burg was apparently not happy with the game and when pressed by reporters in the locker room only said "nothing else matters but the loss." Kyle Vanden Burg struck out in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, grounded out in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Devin O'Neill in the 8th. So far this season, Vanden Burg has recorded a .359 batting average with 110 hits, 10 home runs, 31 RBIs, 47 runs scored and a .407 OBP. |
