27-Game Streak Ends, Boyar Hitless
Monday, September 7th , 2009
Brooklyn third baseman Terry Boyar went 0-for-4 in Brooklyn's 3-0 triumph over the Providence Grays, snapping his 27-game hitting streak.
Boyar spoke to BNN after the game and said he "knew the hitting streak would end sooner or later."
"I just would have preferred later," he said with a laugh. "It was fun though."
When Boyar made an out in his last chance at the plate, his teammates congratulated him in the dugout. In the clubhouse after the game, he seemed unbothered by the streak ending.
"There's nothing scientific about it, that's for sure," Grays manager Jon Ring said of Boyar's streak. "He had a nice little run. Let him start another one when we finish the series here."
At present, Boyar is batting .312 and has collected 12 home runs, 38 RBIs, .368 OBP and scored 42 runs.
