Youngman Blasts 3 out of the Park Friday, August 22nd , 2008 It's a rare event when a player hits three homers in a game and rarer still when he does it and loses. It happened at Farmers Field, as Dillon Youngman of the Arlington Stars unloaded three times against the Fort Wayne Farmers but was still bumped off, 7-6, by the Farmers. "We were lucky to win today," said Fort Wayne skipper Jonathan Paul. "You can't give up that many home runs and expect to win on a regular basis." For the game, the Arlington first baseman had 4 hits in 5 at-bats, scored 3 times, and drove in 5. Youngman spoke to the writers in the postgame press room with mixed feelings, saying he was sad to lose but happy to be seeing the ball well. "I was just trying to swing early and often to give myself a chance," he said. "I let the pitcher supply all the power and try to figure out how to get the bat on the ball." Dillon Youngman hit a two-run home run off Kyle Balmaseda in the 1st, doubled in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Kyle Balmaseda in the 6th, grounded out in the 8th and hit a solo-shot off John Pudwill in the 10th. For the year, Youngman is hitting .529 with 6 home runs. His stats include 14 RBI and 13 runs scored. |
