Block Gets Award for Relief Work Friday, October 30th , 2009 Pete Block has won the 2009 Semi-Pro Baseball Circuit Reliever of the Year Award, which at age 37 is a "milestone achievement" for the Calgary Caracals reliever. "I feel accomplished to win this when there are other younger, stronger, harder-throwing guys out there," he said. The San Diego, California native's numbers speak for themselves, as he captured the award with 11 saves in 51 relief appearances, compiling 91.2 innings. He had 89 strikeouts and 31 walks, a record of 4-8 and an ERA of 2.36. He received 15 first place votes out of a possible 18. Marcos de la Rosa of the Green Bay Braves finished second in voting with 3 first place votes, while Chris Kaplan of the Ottawa Capitals finished third.
