Jeff Franco Says Farewell to Baseball Sunday, September 20th , 2009 Jeff Franco said it's time for him to concentrate on "being a father and a husband" after this baseball season. At age 38, the native of Plantation, Florida has announced he will retire from professional baseball. "I want to thank all my teammates, the fans, and the Vancouver Bruins organization, but this is it for me," he said. "I've got a lovely family at home I can't wait to spend more time with." Franco has a lifetime .304 average and .366 on-base percentage in his career with 313 hits, 76 doubles, 3 triples, 20 home runs, 128 RBIs and 152 runs scored. |
