Thompson Hot, Chargers Cold Friday, July 31st , 2009 Goose eggs were the order of the day for the Detroit Chargers as starter Tom Thompson shut them out, 4-0, at Eagles Park. The Newark pitcher struck out 4 and walked 1 while allowing 3 hits. "Thompson was good but he wasn't flawless," Detroit manager Carlos Ventura said. "We had a few opportunities to make something happen and we didn't do it. Not to take anything away from Newark, but this is on us."
