Zamora Reaches 1000 Monday, August 24th , 2009 It was a day of mixed emotions for New York City third baseman Willie Zamora, who collected his 1000th hit in the club's 6-2 loss to San Francisco. Blues and Peanuts fans alike cheered Zamora as he reached base after his milestone hit. "I wish the score had been different," Zamora said after the game, "but it was a great moment. The standing ovation was really special... even the fans wearing Peanuts caps were cheering me." Zamora was 1-for-5 on the day.
