Atlanta parlayed a decent outing from starter Jack Murphy into a solid win over the Chicago Blackhawks. The final score was 4-3. Kirk Garcia picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Isaiah Hoffman suffered the loss. The Blackhawks drop to 4-7 and continue their inconsistent start to the 2009 season.

Matt Walsh, who finished 3rd in the PBC in doubles with 26 in 2007, had a direct impact on the outcome. Walsh contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning to put Atlanta up, 4-3.

"Both teams played hard," said Atlanta manager Andrew Scharbach.
