The Boston Shamrocks could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Chris Phillips into a win. Instead, the Philadelphia Keystones prevailed, 4-2. Phillips threw 8.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The win belonged to Roger Cobos in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Harry Parker took the loss for Boston. The win gives Philadelphia a record of 6-4.
Philadelphia used the timely hitting of Damien Thibaud to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Keystones on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
Thibaud called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
