Thunder Take 2-1 Lead with 8-6 Win
Riding the 3-hit performance of left fielder Kengo Miyake, the Tampa Bay Thunder got a road win against the Washington Warriors, 8-6, in Game 3 of the Cup Qualifier. Miyake went 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 for the Thunder, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games to 1.

Tampa Bay center fielder Darnell Phillips produced at a critical juncture. It happened in the top of the eighth with Gennaro Velo on the mound and Tampa Bay leading 7-6. Phillips drew a walk, driving in 1 run.

Phillips called winning a team effort. "It's not the same guy every time," he said. "It's the sum of the parts."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Warriors Park in Washington.
