Road Win Lifts Albany to 1-0 Lead in DCS
|
The Albany Senators faced a tough opponent in Hamilton Tigers designated hitter Jonathan Lieberman, but did just enough to pull out a win in Game 1 of the Division Championship Series, which they now lead 1-0. The Senators won, 4-3, at Hamilton Park, despite the efforts of Lieberman, who was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
Albany used the hitting of Joe Garoea to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Senators on top, 4-2. For the game, Garoea had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
Albany manager Luke Garwood commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Hamilton Park in Hamilton.
