Road Win Lifts Southern California to 3-2 Lead in DCS
Game 5 was big. So was Paul Rudolph.

The Southern California starter rose to the occasion at Vegas Stadium, leading the Empires to a crucial 6-3 victory over the Las Vegas Rollers. Rudolph threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball as the Empires won on the road to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 Division Championship Series.

Southern California used the timely hitting of Ricardo Diaz to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Empires on top, 6-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I was just trying to execute one pitch at a time," said Rudolph.

Game 6 is scheduled for Thursday at Empires Stadium in San Bernardino.
