Leave it to the veteran.
The Boston Shamrocks got a great start from 38-year-old left-hander Nick Hafer, as Boston won the contest, 3-2, at The Thunder Bowl. Hafer threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball in the win, which knotted the best-of-7 series at 1-1.
Bryan Mickelson, who finished 4th in the EC in on-base percentage with .389 in 2006, had a direct impact on the outcome. Mickelson contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the first inning to put Boston up, 3-0.
"It feels a lot better to be tied than to be behind, even if it is only one game," Boston manager Lex Clark said.
The next game is set to be played for Thursday, October 9th , 2008 at Shamrock Grounds in Boston.
