Peanuts Move on to Cup Qualifier

Ian Runfola said he didn't even realize how well he had been playing in the Play-in Series until he was shown his own statistics.
The San Francisco Peanuts catcher put up a .429 average with 1 home runs, 3 RBI and 1 runs scored, enough to earn him series MVP honors. It all added up to his Peanuts advancing to the Cup Qualifier, with a 3-1 series win over the Houston Mavericks.
"I didn't really pay attention to the numbers or my stats at all as we went along," he said. "I'm just so focused on trying to help the team win, that's it."
The series victory had become official with a 3-2 triumph at Mavericks Ballpark. Even if Runfola is not paying close attention to his stats, the rest of baseball certainly will be keeping an eye on him as the playoffs continue.
"I like to be under pressure and think I respond well to it," he said.
The San Francisco Peanuts will play against the Denver Cutthroats in the next round. Denver had a bye in the Play-in Series. The Cup Qualifier is scheduled to begin on October 6th , 2008.
