The Mexico City Aztecas picked up a win at Moose Grounds, knocking off the Saskatoon Moose, 3-2. On the mound for Mexico City was right-hander Evan Rodriguez. He played a key role in the triumph. Rodriguez, now 12-7, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 9, walking 6, and allowing 2 runs. Ronnie Jacobs was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 2 of 2 save opportunities.
Mexico City used the hitting of Johnny Stokes to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Aztecas on top, 3-2. For the game, Stokes had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"Not to put too fine a point on it," said Stokes, "but we really needed that win."
The Aztecas now have a mark of 37-49.
