5 Straight Wins for Mavericks
|
The Houston Mavericks topped the Las Vegas Aces, 7-4, in Professional Baseball Circuit action at Caesers Palace Colosseum. The standout performance belonged to Houston pitcher and Andover, Minnesota, native Steve Carter. Carter, now 9-3, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 8, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. Picking up the save was two-time All-Star Ricardo Santana.
Rafael Angulo had a key at-bat with one out in the top of the fourth for Houston. With the bases loaded and the Mavericks leading 1-0, he hit a sacrifice fly.
"We had some nice at-bats at the right time," said Mavericks manager Kevin Read.
Las Vegas is still trying to get off the schneid, having lost 8 in a row.
