The Tampa Bay Thunder spoiled a good performance by Las Vegas center fielder Alan Tompkins, bumping off Las Vegas, 8-7, at The Thunder Bowl. Tompkins was 2-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Justin Denton, 4-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 3 innings. Tampa Bay goes to 42-16. The win puts them 5 games up in their division.

Tampa Bay got a knockout punch from George Pickens. The right fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
