In a close game at Blues Field, the Chicago Blackhawks edged the New York City Blues, 5-4. Chicago center fielder Ben Alley stood apart with his performance. He went 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Chicago reliever Isaiah Hoffman picked up the win, upping his record to 6-5. Matt Baird took the loss. The 6th-place Blackhawks have won 5 consecutive games.
Had Kent Beaton not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Beaton hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Blackhawks.
"I was a little disappointed," said New York City manager Cole Hobson. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
