The Houston Mavericks dealt the Denver Cutthroats a 5-4 loss at Mavericks Ballpark. Joe Higgins, who leads the PBC in bases on balls with 74, was the star on offense. He went 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs. Houston pitcher Luke Whalen got the win. He's now 13-4. Jon Lund was tagged with the loss. The win elevated the Mavericks to 58-20.

Chris Oldfield went 2-3 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI for Houston. The 32-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Jon Lund. It was his 56th RBI of the season.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Oldfield told the Houston Chronicle.
