The Atlanta Pilots picked up a win at The Hangar, topping the Chicago Blackhawks, 7-2. On the mound for Atlanta was left-hander Jack Murphy. He played a principal role in the triumph. Atlanta now sits at 33-38, while Chicago falls to 28-43.

The Pilots got a big at-bat from designated hitter Jeff Beyer. For the game, Beyer went 1-4 with a double and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 23rd double of the season gave Atlanta a 3-2 lead.

"It's easier to pitch when you get run support," said Murphy.
