Lions Get Clutch Win Versus Denver
|
The St. Louis Lions topped the Denver Cutthroats, 4-3, in Professional Baseball Circuit action at Cutter's Cove. The standout performance belonged to St. Louis pitcher and Abington, Massachusetts, native Kevin Williams. Williams got the win, improving to 6-4. He gave up 5 hits and walked 1 over 7 innings. He allowed 3 runs. The triumph puts St. Louis at 38-31 for the season.
St. Louis used the timely hitting of Ian Hoch to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Lions on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Kevin gave us a really strong effort," said St. Louis manager Leo Cruz.
