Vacaville right-hander Steve Arthur helped his team edge Newark by the score of 3-2. Arthur kept the opposing lineup in check. Phil Knobbe earned the save for Vacaville, his 12th of the year. The win for the Steelheads lifted their record to 41-35.

Vacaville needed the clutch hitting of Heriberto Rodriguez to seal the deal. The first baseman swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Steelheads on top, 3-1. For the game, Rodriguez had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Newark manager Elijah Jackson said, following the tough loss.
