Bruins Earn 2-1 Win Versus Aztecas
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Vancouver Bruins and the Mexico City Aztecas, Ernesto Castillo was the X factor. The Vancouver right-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. Castillo got the win, improving to 3-0. He gave up 4 hits and walked 0 over 7 innings. He allowed 1 run. Alexis Alvarez collected save number 12.
Symão Beddall came through with a big-time hit for Vancouver. The pinch hitter smacked a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"We had the right guys up at the right times," said Mexico City manager Zack Englund. "We just didn't cash in."
The 5th-place Bruins hiked their record to 27-38.
