Vacaville pitcher Jeff Nesbitt had a large part in his team subduing the Calgary Caracals, 4-2. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. Nesbitt got the win, improving to 7-6. He gave up 10 hits and walked 1 over 7 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Earning his 7th save of the year was Phil Knobbe.

Heriberto Rodriguez went 1 for 3 with a walk, while adding 2 RBI for Vacaville. The 34-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the third. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a 2-run single off Minoru Abe. It was his 48th hit of the season.

"We had a good game plan," Nesbitt said, "and we were able to execute it."

The third-place Steelheads go to 31-28.
