Detroit Gets Riveting Walk-Off Win
|
The Detroit Chargers knocked off the Edmonton Drillers, 7-4, at Chargers Field. It took 12 innings. Antonio Garcia was a prime reason Detroit won. The right fielder went 1-4 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Noe Lopez, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3 innings. The win lifted the Detroit record to 27-27.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the 12th. With two out, Garcia hit a fastball from Bryan Largent for a 3-run home run. The Chargers, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"We're trying to go out there and win games," Garcia told the Detroit Gazette, "and we played pretty well tonight."
