Southern California pitcher Paul Rudolph did his part in helping his team beat the Las Vegas Rollers, 4-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. The victory gives Southern California a record of 27-20.

Mark Cruz had a big 2-run home run for the Empires in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Southern California leading 2-1 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a fastball from Sean Lee, who is tied for 7th in the in innings pitched with 84.2, and punished it. The result was his 11th home run of the season, which put the Empires on top, 4-1.

"Paul was pounding the zone," said Southern California manager Jose Perez.
