Hurler Phil Knobbe gave the Vacaville Steelheads a solid start. The native of Springfield, Virginia helped his team defeat the Edmonton Drillers, 3-2, at Drillers Field. The win puts the Steelheads at 26-20, while the Drillers drop to 24-22.

Manuel Rodriguez, who finished 2nd in the in home runs with 22 last year, had a direct impact on the outcome. Rodriguez contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the third inning to put Vacaville up, 3-0.

"That's baseball," said Edmonton manager Sullivan Leonetti. "Sometimes the other team plays better than yours."
