Ottawa Dealt 3-2 Defeat
|
In a low-scoring game between the Vacaville Steelheads and the Ottawa Capitals, pitcher Phil Knobbe was the difference-maker. The Vacaville right-hander was tough as nails in the 3-2 Steelheads win. Knobbe got the win, improving to 1-1. He gave up 4 hits and walked 4 over 7.2 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Vacaville is now 22-15.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Steelheads had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fifth, when designated hitter Armando Gonzalez hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Jamie Pickrell and made the score 3-1, Steelheads. Gonzalez went 2 for 4 with 2 singles.
