Rodriguez yielded 2 runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 0, and struck out 5. His record improves to 6-3. Luis Galdamez earned the save for Mexico City, his 1st of the year.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Jonathan Zahorik? The 26-year old catcher Zahorik stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put Mexico City up, 4-2. For the game, he was 2 for 2, including 1 double and 1 single.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Mexico City manager Zack Englund.
By defeating Edmonton, the last-place Aztecas improved to 15-22.
