Canadians Losers, 5-3, Versus Ottawa
|
The Ottawa Capitals topped the Sherbrooke Canadians, 5-3, in Semi-Pro Baseball Circuit action at Canadians Park. The standout performance belonged to Ottawa pitcher and Atwater, California, native Dave Miller. Miller got the win, improving to 4-2. He gave up 4 hits and walked 2 over 7.1 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Chris Kaplan got credit for the save for Ottawa. It was his 8th of the year.
Curt Bunney had a big solo home run for the Capitals in the top of the sixth inning. With Ottawa leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he got a slider from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Elliott Doctor and swatted a home run to right. It was his 5th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Capitals ahead, 3-1.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Ottawa manager Mike House. "It's usually not just one thing."
Ottawa is in 4th place in the East Division with a record of 14-14.
