Empires Take Tight Tangle

The Southern California Empires took Vancouver pitcher Joel Brewer's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Empires Stadium. The final score had Southern California getting past the Bruins, 3-2. Brewer went 6.2 innings and allowed no runs, striking out 7. Reliever Chris Clary picked up the win. His record improves to 2-0. Alexis Alvarez took the loss. The win lifted the Southern California record to 16-9.
Southern California got a knockout punch from Mark Cruz. The right fielder hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"I like our moxie," said Empires manager Jose Perez.
