Admirals Pull Off Thrilling 4-3 Win in Extras
|
The Quebec City Admirals did just enough to nip the Newark Eagles, 4-3, in 11 innings. Quebec City pitcher Rick Bowen, in particular, had a standout performance. Clint Rinehart, now 2-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2.1 innings. Newark now is 8-7.
Alex Olvera, who finished 4th in the in slugging percentage with .599 in 2007, had a direct impact on the outcome. Olvera contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put Quebec City up, 4-3.
In postgame remarks, Olvera said: "I'm proud of our guys, of their fight."
