Empires Win, 4-2, Extend Streak to 4 Games

Calgary left fielder Justin Bridge was sensational. He was 4 for 5 with 4 singles. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Southern California beat the Caracals, 4-2. Southern California pitcher Allan Tiefel got the win, upping his record to 1-1. Nate Johnson got the loss. Chris Clary closed out the game, earning his 1st save.
The Empires got a big at-bat from first baseman Bob Fernandez. For the game, Fernandez was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Southern California a 4-2 lead.
"Bottom line," said Calgary skipper Luis Hernandez, "we didn't play well enough to win."
The Caracals fall to 6-8 and continue their lackluster start in 2009.
