Bruins Collect 6-5 Win Over Drillers
The Edmonton Drillers could not turn a fine performance from first baseman Paul Levy into a win. Instead, the Vancouver Bruins prevailed, 6-5, in 13 innings. Levy went 2-5 with 2 home runs and a walk. Alexis Alvarez picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Steve Turnbull, who finished 2nd in the in saves with 11 in 2002, was tagged with the loss. Ernesto Castillo closed it out for his 1st save.

The game was at a stalemate until catcher Braden Abrams came to bat in the top of the 13th. Facing Edmonton pitcher Bryan Largent, he hit a 1-0 sinker for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Vancouver on top, 6-4.

Vancouver manager Amir Johnson was pleased with the team's effort. "It was just a good, gutsy performance by everybody," he said.

The Bruins, now 2-11, have not found much traction so far in 2009.
